With the Wash-Sensor WD, Stericop offers an easy-to-use test for monitoring the cleaning effectiveness of medical instruments in WDs. Such a test is required according to RKI/KRINKO 2012* (Appendix 3) during the reprocessing of medical products.
Our testing system consists of a durable holder made of stainless steel and interchangeable indicator discs that can be ordered separately. Thanks to the practical clip, the test can be easily attached to any WD.
The disc features a test soil (red dot) that simulates human blood and tissue residues. In the holder, the test soil is partially covered, thereby imitating the joint space of scissors, pliers, or other surgical instruments. This way, you can ensure that the cleaning process has been performed correctly.
Application
The application of the Wash-Sensor WD is quick and straightforward:
Insert the indicator disc sideways into the holder, ensuring that the red test soil remains partially visible.
Place or hang the Wash-Sensor inside the WD, with the open front facing into the WD.
After the cleaning program has completed, remove the Wash Sensor from the WD and pull the indicator disc out of the holder for verification.
Note: For daily routine checks, the testing system should only be used with the normal loading of the WD. Please also observe the manufacturer’s instructions for the correct loading of the WD.
Evaluation
The evaluation of the test is conducted visually by inspecting the indicator strip.
The complete removal of the red dot indicates an effective cleaning process. If the red dot is not completely removed, there may be deficiencies in the mechanical and chemical performance of the WD.
