Wash-Sensor Protein

Wash-Sensor Protein

Rapid test for detecting protein residues on medical instruments and medical devices.

  • Easy handling with no preparation time
  • No laboratory equipment required
  • High accuracy from 1 µg of protein

Description

The Wash-Sensor Protein is a rapid protein test optimized for the regular inspection of protein residues on surgical instruments, other medical devices, as well as on the walls and accessories of washing disinfectors and conveyor belt installations..

It is a semi-quantitative detection method that indicates protein residues starting from a quantity of 1 microgram. Our Wash Sensors guarantee legal certainty in reprocessing – they comply with all requirements according to RKI/KRINKO 2012* (Appendix 3).

This test is designed for surfaces. For the detection of protein residues in hollow body instruments (endoscopes, gastroscopes, and colonoscopes), we offer you the Wash Sensors Protein M, E, and K Plus.

We provide the test materials ready to use, and the handling is extremely simple. You do not need any laboratory equipment or other aids. Thus, this routine test minimizes the risk of application errors. The interpretation of the test results is straightforward and reliable, with evaluation occurring visually immediately after use.

We also offer the Wash-Sensor Protein L, which features the same test system but with a longer swab.

Application

The application of the Wash-Sensor Protein is quick and straightforward:

  1. Briefly shake the reagent vial before use.
  2. Moisten the swab with water on dry surfaces of medical devices. No special requirements are placed on water quality.
  3. Carefully and extensively wipe the surface to be tested. For hollow bodies and medical devices with joints, be sure to focus on critical areas.
  4. Open the screw cap of the reagent vial. Rinse the swab in the reagent solution for about 5 seconds by twisting and dipping it multiple times.
  5. Remove the swab and dispose of it. Close the reagent vial.

Evaluation

You can read the test result immediately, but no later than 10 minutes. If the original color of the reagent solution does not change, there is no contamination with proteins. A color change from brown to blue is a reliable indicator of protein residues on the tested surface. The more intense the discoloration towards blue, the higher the level of contamination.

Note: The swab will always turn blue during the evaluation! This is a safety feature to distinguish used swabs from unused ones.
