Chemical indicator for monitoring steam sterilization at 121°C and 134°C.
For regular routine testing of a sterilizer, Type 5 process indicators must be used according to DIN EN ISO 11140-1. With the Steam Sensor 5, we provide you with a suitable indicator to easily and safely control your sterilization cycle. The test is ideally suited for all medical and dental practices, outpatient surgery centers, and hospitals.
In practice, treatment indicators (Type 1 process indicators) are often incorrectly used to demonstrate the sterility of the load. However, these only indicate that an instrument has been exposed to the sterilization process. Thus, Type 1 indicators are only intended to distinguish between treated and untreated units.
Use the SteamSensor 5 from Stericop to ensure legal compliance in monitoring your sterilizer.
Note: If you are sterilizing a load containing hollow bodies or complex instruments, please use our Helix Test SMU-LC or SMU-LCR for load control.

The application of the Steam Sensor 5 is simple and quick:
Check the color change of the indicator against the color chart on the inside of the packaging. The Steam Sensor 5 changes color progressively from light blue to violet to pink. The longer the indicators are exposed to the sterilization conditions (sterilization time, pressure, and saturated steam conditions), the more intense the pink coloration becomes. This allows you to assess your sterilization result very accurately.
To fulfill the legal documentation requirement, you should record the result in the sterilization log. You can then dispose of the indicator.
